Celeigh Cardinal (pronounced Kay-lee):

A Celeigh Cardinal performance is a profound, soulful triumph of songs that blend roots, folk, rock and pop. Her voice at once evokes a gentleness and control which can turn to raucous, gut wrenching, twisted, turn-yourself-inside-out blues within a single phrase.  She is a passionate performer who can draw an emotional response with her deliberate words and rich contralto voice.

This year Celeigh has received the Western Canadian Music Award for Indigenous Artist of the Year, a CBC Indigenous Music nomination for best pop album and has also received a whopping 8 Edmonton Music Awards nominations for her recently released album, “Everything and Nothing at all”, from which she was the recipient of Female Artist of the year and Indigenous Recording of the year. She has played many Canadian Festivals this summer and toured in Scandinavia the last two years. She is currently based out of Edmonton, Alberta and continues to perform alongside her duo, trio as well as with her band.

A great honour to be the lead runner in nominations for Edmonton Music Awards this year! I was nominated for Roots/Folk Recording of the Year, Singer/Songwriter of the year, Album of the year, Single of the Year, Adult Alternative Recording of the year, People's choice and lastly Female Artist of the Year and Indigenous Recording of the Year. I won the latter two and fumbled through speeches and wore the most uncomfortable, but awesome looking, boots. here are some pics!

This year I was delighted to be nominated for a CBC Indigenous Music Award for Best Pop Album! Now I didn't win, but I had an wonderful time with friends, family, and a whoooooole bunch of extraordinary performers from our lush Canadian Indigenous Music scene.  Here are a few pics....

A little about Gunner & Smith:
Hope and redemption. Philosophy and folklore. The music of Gunner & Smith has always been a collection of fiery elements, blending searing guitars, brawny rhythms and distinct folk-family vocals to produce tightly-knit rock anthems. But on Byzantium, the group’s second full-length album, the songs simmer and seethe with a newfound brooding energy that looks at the darker sides of love, loss and humanity.

It's March ALREADY!?!?!?
